This is the video version of a talk on American Muslim barbecue that I gave at the 2022 Southern Foodways Alliance Symposium.
This was a really fun talk - it includes T-Pain, some history, tales on creating our own versions of Southern bbq; and what I learned lurking in one amazing WhatsApp group called the Halal BBQ Pitmasters, a community that’s evolving American barbecue.
